2013 - Muley Point Motorcycle Camping
My father and I took a motorcycle trip from Edwards Colorado to Muley Point in Utah. We were short on time and made the 820 mile round trip in two days. The riding was beautiful from start to finish but I must say that the last couple miles to the campsite at Muley Point were particullary great. I say camp-site tongue and cheek. There are no real camp sites there. There is a gravel road that kind of forms a path. If you follow it long enough, you can find flat spots near by to pitch a tent.
The entire camping area is probably 1000 feet up on a plateau, and in spots at the bottom there is a small river that drops probably another 1000 feet down. It is a little intimedating to be near the edge to say the least. The view is spatacular though and well worth the trip.
We made the trip in the last weekend in October. On our trip the temperature fluxated between 34 degrees and 65 degrees. Thankfully the overnight temperature was above 40 so we were warm in our mummy sleeping bags in the tent.
