xs1100 - patching hole in rear tire and cleaning petcocks

Recently I went on a 700 mile ride through PA with my father. During the trip my XS1100 had a few problems. The rear tire developed a leak. Every morning it would be down to about 10 PSI and would have to be refilled. This was annoying but not that terrible. The far more annoying problem was that the bike would sometimes run very rough, as if it was not getting enough fuel.
