sonett - magnetic wireless phone charger

I have always wanted a wireless charging magnetic mount for my phone in my car. Dreams really do come true. This charger is meant to attach to a vent. I don't see how any vent would hold the mount securely enough. Certainly the Saab vent just flopped around. I even secured the saab vent in place with double sided tape. Even with that, the mount did not have a reassuring feel.

So I decided to screw this mount into the dash somewhere. Of course I didn't want to put holes through the fiberglass dash so instead I opted to remove the seal belt warning light and use that hole. I put a small piece of wood behind the dash, one in front, and put screws through both pieces through the opening for the seat belt light. No new holes, but the wood blocks are extemely secure. I then attached my phone mount to the wood block with extremely sticky 3M body molding double sided tape, the stuff you use to attach door ding strips to the outside of your car.

Now that its all done, my phone sticks to the magnetic mount very well. Hitting bumps is no problems. Sometimes a bump is big enough to cause the phone to move, but it never falls off the mount, and the mount itself never moves at all. I am very happy with the outcome.
