sonett - adjusting valves, powder coating valve covers, new front shocks

The Sonett runs fine once warmed up but is very rough before then. I figured it was time to adjust the valves and ignitiion timing. Well, I started on the valves and decided that as long as I had the valve covers off I would bead blast and powder coat them. I am extremely happy with the results.

This particular Sonett had air conditioning from the dealer which meant that it is equiped with a double belt pully, one for the alternator and a second for the A/C compressor. This makes the pulley double deep. I am told that normally on a Sonett you can adjust the timing without removing the hood but with the double deep pulley this was simply impossible.

While I had the hood off I went ahead and replaced the front shocks. That was extremely simple and took about 10 minutes.

timing markes cleaned up, notice the double pulley

double pully made turning over the engine by hand very tedious even with hood removed

done preheating, time to let them cool before applying powder

I decided to go with Ford Light Blue, I believe earlier V-4's uses a similar color from the factory
